Happily ever after doesn't exist, inner peace does!
When I was a little girl, I loved reading fairy tales. Every story ended with, "And they lived happily ever after." I carried that promise into teenage and adulthood, believing that once something happened, whether it's the right job, a vacation, the right partner, the right milestone; I would finally be happy. I treated happiness like a finish line.
Tell me, how many of you still do the same? Waiting for life to deliver that one perfect moment so you can finally breathe?
Over the years, through books, through journalling, life's experiences and it's curveballs; I've realised this: happiness is just like any other emotion - it visits, and it leaves. You can't trap it in a jar.
What truly stays is peace. When the mind is at peace, no matter what life throws at you, you respond instead of react. You face storms without losing your anchor. And in that stillness, you realise - you don't need a "happily ever after" when you have an ever-peaceful now.
